Charley Hull surges into Women’s Open contention as leader Yamashita wobbles
There are few things more exciting in golf than a marauding Charley Hull. Not only did we witness precisely that here on Saturday, but Hull sent an errant shot whizzing past the head of Minjee Lee for added theatrical effect.Hull had been battling to make the AIG Women’s Open cut for much of Friday afternoon. She started her third round 11 shots adrift of Miyu Yamashita. Within nine holes, Hull was five under par and on the charge
England v India: fifth men’s cricket Test, day three – live
That wicket makes India strongish favourites to square the series, but England’s merry band of run-chasers won’t go quietly. One way or another, tomorrow should be the last day of this terrific series. Goodnight.Fantastic bowling from Mohammed Siraj! He changed the field as if for the short ball, only to hit Crawley with a perfect yorker that sneaked under the bat and rammed into the stumps. A fantastic way to end another compelling day
England suffer late Zak Crawley blow in chase of 374 to win fifth Test and India series
At the end of a demoralising third day when England were put to the sword by Yashasvi Jaiswal’s sixth Test century came one final gut punch. Mohammed Siraj, the only seamer to stay the course in this punishing series, castled Zak Crawley with a perfect yorker to put his side on course for a 2-2 draw.England will go into the fourth day on 50 for one needing 324 more runs to win. But while the target is just three more than the 371 they chased down at a canter in the first Test at Headingley, their beleaguered state of mind – and a more capricious pitch – points to a very different outcome this time.India may need only eight more wickets, too, with Chris Woakes unlikely to bat due to his dislocated shoulder
Andy Farrell hints at leading British & Irish Lions again for 2029 New Zealand tour
Andy Farrell would be interested in another stint as the British & Irish Lions head coach after his side’s series victory over the Wallabies. Farrell said he had hugely enjoyed his squad’s successful campaign in Australia and hinted he would consider doing the job again in New Zealand in 2029.Despite the Lions’ 22-12 third Test defeat, which ended the squad’s ambitions of a 3-0 series sweep, Farrell did not sound remotely like a man who has coached his final Lions Test. “Everyone knows what I think about this concept,” said Farrell, reflecting on the Lions’ first series victory since 2013.“I love everything that the Lions is about and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the last eight weeks
